"A real gift at this very difficult time"

About: Daisy Hill Hospital Southern Health & Social Care Trust / Virtual Visiting Service

(as a service user),

Mum, 97, tested positive for covid in December 2020. During her time on the covid ward in Daisy Hill the wonderfull team of nurses, understaffed and at times probably overwhelmed, did their utmost to facilitate virtual visits. Sincere thanks to them all.

Mum was moved to rehab after three weeks. Since then the virtual visits have been arranged by a non nursing team, such a gift for the families and the already pressurised nursing team.

The virtual visit team are so efficient, empathetic and lovely to speak to. Visits can be arranged that day and can also be booked several days in advance. Visits always happen at the scheduled time. Sincere thanks to all of you. Being able to speak to and see mum is a real gift at this very difficult time.

Keep up the great work. God bless.

Good morning

Thank you so much for taking the time to share your experience of the new Virtual Visiting Service in Southern Health and Social Services Trust. It is such a wonderful story to read. We recognise how difficult it is for families at the minute with the restricted visiting guidelines in place due to Covid 19. This new service has been established to try to support families and patients during this time and your story just lets us see how the important the service is. I have personally shared this lovely feedback with the Virtual Visiting Schedulers who take the booking and the Virtual Visiting Officers on the wards who set up the calls for your mother. I will also share this story with the staff on the covid ward in DHH who will really appreciate these kind words also.

I hope that your mum is continuing to improve.

Kind regards

Mairead
