Prior to coronavirus restrictions, I was very fortunate to have access to the hydrotherapy pool and the excellent staff, at the RAH in Paisley. I cannot fully express how important that service was to me and how much it is missed. I have Joint Hypermobility Syndrome. Traditional physiotherapy was exhausting and often painful. Hydrotherapy was initially very challenging too, then I began to make the kind of progress that I had never experienced with traditional physiotherapy (and often high duty painkilling medication). Despite being aware that progress was being made, I didn't fully appreciate how much until the pandemic made it impossible to continue, and the levels of pain, stiffness and fatigue returned. I have spoken to others who have had the opportunity to access hydrotherapy for a variety of conditions, and every one had positive experiences and can't wait for the service to be available to them again.
