"Our son who became a drug addict"

About: Parent Support Link

(as a parent/guardian),

Our son’s behaviour became very erratic & he became very volatile & aggressive. We then found out that he is addicted to amphetamines. We tried our GP, a counsellor & a rehab centre, all with no success. Our situation @ home became impossible & he left to live homeless on the streets. We were given the number for Inclusion & met Kim who has helped us so very much. We felt we had no one to turn to & our health was suffering. Kim gave us so much advice & helped us through those dark days. Someone was always available including the evening when our son said he wanted to end his life ( Thank you Sue)! We now take part in group meetings (Zoom during pandemic) & it’s very comforting to talk to other parents in a similar situation & have Kim’s guidance. I don’t know how we would have managed without this help.

Thank you for sharing this with us, such positive vibes.

Kim is a fantastic Family support worker and it is always such a pleasure to hear what people have to say regarding the service they not only received from PSL but from having the connection, understanding and commitment from our workers to be able to support you in such a way that helps you in what you are going through.

Its great to hear you are accessing the support group and have built a foundation of support for yourselves, that is exactly what it is there for, so when we hear how much it is helping its great!

Thank you again and take care and we wish you and your family all the best in your journey.
