"My advocate has been amazing"

I have had the involvement of an advocate (Kate)   from Sheffield Advocacy Hub for around the last 18 months. The waiting list was long but 100% worth it (and happened to come through at a really pivotal time). I have had a very complex and at times, traumatic, ongoing situation with my mental health care. My advocate has been amazing, supporting me through navigating through this difficult time, contacting people on my behalf, advising me, supporting me in difficult meetings and supporting me to submit a formal complaint. She was insightful, compassionate and understanding. Her knowledge of the system was brilliant and I really appreciated how easy she was to contact and that she remained involved until I no longer needed advocate input. I would thoroughly recommend anyone who is concerned the long wait might not be worth it to stick with waiting for an advocate!
