"another useless trip to the dermatology department."

About: Amersham Hospital

(as the patient),

I am a psoriasis sufferer about 50% of my body is covered with this red flaky patches, it is a genetic disiese, I feel let down in society, I work full time and carry on with my life trying not to let this condition take over,Because of this the hospitals and doctors feel that im ok, when really im screaming inside for help and an answer as i cannot do everything i want to do, Every year i refer myself back to the hopital via a doctor, then about a month later i will finally get an appointmetn with a dermatoligist for 3 months later, i,m sorry this isnt good enough as ive been suffering constantley for around 17 years,
not bad considering im only 30 now
THE APPOINTMENT 3 MONTHS LATER IS FOR WYCOMBE HOSPITAL, i go to my appointment where i am told that my condition is very bad and im a poor little thing, I am then told that i will have to be referred to Amersham hospital, and they will contact me shortley. Around 4 weeks later i will get a call saying that i am ready to be seen, and i will have to have another 6 week course of p.u.b.a. a 22 light treatment, i feel this is not the answer as it is very dangerous and after the treatment their is a high chance of getting cancer because i have had so many treatments over the years, It is a good treatment but for me personally it only clears me up for 2 monthswhich is nothing considering i have to wait 6 months to get another appointment with a dermatoligist, I wouldnt mind but their are so many drugs and other treaments avaliable that could maybe help me if they could just give it a try but i feel that the doctors cant be bothered with me , im either too young or it is too expensive, I feel very dissapointed about it all and would love to find a soloution, The staff at the hospital are lovely and will try and help, but they are just doing what the consultants tell them to do, I feel i am palmed off with steroid creams which are more expensive than other treatments and do not help at all, The only answer is to spend a few weeks away in the sun and sea which i cannot afford to do anyway, and even if i could i could it is so embarrasing that i probably wouldnt unless it was a private villa with pool, so why i cant be sent away their like all the other countries in the world do, . I think psoriasis isnt taken seriously by the nhs at all, even though it probably the worse non life threatening illnesses you can have, as long as is isnt life threatening i dont think their is much chance of help for sufferers.
