"Southmead Urology a family shock"

(as a relative),

My brother has just been a patient at Southmead Urology after many years as a patient at the BRI Urology in Bristol.

His care has been worse than appalling he was not informed, he was left in a bloody mess all over his sheets and in pain. He was afraid to complain or ask for help as when he did he was made to feel like he was a nuisance with sneering glances from some of the nurses. Not all were this way but we didnt see the nice one often! His catheter was dragging and it caused his penis to split so you can imagine blood and pain was extreme.

He had up until now been a patient at the BRI Urology, for 9 years who I must say have been exceptional in every way and he had faith in the hospital. The management) is moving all the service to Southmead.

He feels treated like a second class citizen and a person without a brain. I have taken this on as he is afraid of repercussions when he has to go back in again. He is considering moving so he wont have to go there what does that tell you? I urge everyone to write about their experiences and stand up for what is right

Dear mcablegreen - I am sorry to learn that your brother and family has experienced such poor patient care and support from the Urology Department at Southmead Hospital. I would like to investigate in order to ensure that his treatment improves, and that others do not have a similar distressing experience. I would therefore be greatful if you could contact me with your bother's details via complaints@nbt.nhs.uk so I can pusue the matter.
