I was experiencing breathlessness on exertion for a number of months and as COVId numbers eased I contacted my GP. Following a chest X-ray at Daisy Hill Hospital I was ‘red flagged’ for follow up due to fluid on my left lung. Within a week I had lung function tests, pleural tap and CT scan of my chest. Following a further chest X-ray a few days later I was admitted quickly into the Respiratory Ward in Daisy Hill Hospital for drain insertion to drain further fluid. I remained there for a few days and was discharged home. Throughout this time I received the best of care and medical attention. Respiratory Consultant Dr. Hagan and his team were excellent. Special thanks to Dr. Hagan, Dr. Chad, Dr. Samuel for their expertise in organising my care including various procedures. Thanks to Dr Elliott, Rheumatology Consultant for his input into my diagnosis for his speedy follow up post discharge. Thanks too to all of the Nursing and Ancillary Staff in the Respiratory ward for their care and attention and their personal check in with me several times during their shifts. Thanks to X-ray Department for their prompt attention with no delays. Thanks also to the staff in the Direct Assessment unit for helping me feel at ease prior to admission. Thanks also to admin staff who arranged my various appointments over the telephone and continue to do so post discharge. Thanks also to my GP practice, Dr. Flood, Dr. Blackadder and Dr. O Hanlon and their admin staff for all their input into the above.
