Having recently been removed from a GP's register, it is frightening how little say you, as the patient, have.  Basically, a GP practice can do what they like.

My behaviour wasn't violent or anything like that.  It shouldn't really have been that big a deal.  After having difficulties getting through on the phone, I messaged the practice to try and cancel an appointment!  That alone took me from a "warning" to "Removed from the register".

I now find myself without a GP - and needing ongoing healthcare.  There is no point in having a chest x-ray or follow up blood tests which the GP recommended - as the results wouldn't go anywhere.  

They surely should have a duty of care?  But alas no.

You have no right of appeal.

GP practices are sub-contractors of the NHS.

They have put my life at risk!

Thank you very much for sharing your feedback with us via Care Opinion.

I am very sorry to read that you have been removed from the GP practice. I am aware that Practices do not take these decisions lightly and especially during this time. I can see that you have tagged chronic kidney disease as part of your post so appreciate that you will have health care needs. I wonder if you would consider approaching the Practice Manager to discuss this further?

In other circumstances l would offer the help of the Patient Experience Team but they would not be able to direct the Practice to reinstate you.

Hi

I have raised a formal complaint. Because what was being used against me was something I had a responsibility to do! I.e. inform of any appointment no longer necessary.

This was several weeks ago. Apart from a letter suggesting a meeting - not one word!

I declined the meeting as if remaining at the practice wasn't an option, then it was pointless.

I have heard nothing more.

Just because a decision may not be taken lightly - it doesn't mean you shouldn't have the opportunity to appeal it. Also, consideration should be made with regards to ongoing care - which hasn't happened either.

An update to this situation:

I contacted NHS24 at the beginning of April. Their advice was to contact the practice and ask to be treated as a temporary resident.

I telephoned the practice - They refused me medical care! The receptionist merely passed on a message from the Practice Manager.

The following day, I was admitted to hospital. At this current time (4 days later), I am still in hospital.
