I am in my 3rd trimester of pregnancy and became concerned when I felt baby movements had slowed and they hadn't moved for a prolonged time - despite trying to lie on my side, take something sweet etc. Unfortunately I became very distressed and my husband phoned maternity triage for some advice. I was so upset I struggled to speak on the phone but I could hear the calming voice of the midwife Ella on the other side. She asked us to come up for a check.
Immediately upon arrival her warm and compassionate attitude helped to put me at ease. She was efficient, kind and caring. There was no hesitation in checking baby and then myself. Thankfully all was well - but at no point was I made to feel that I had over reacted or made to feel silly.
I was treated with kindness and respect by Ella and the other staff I met that night and for that I am so grateful and for the exemplary attitude they adopt and a calm presence regardless of the high stress they are likely under supporting such a demanding service - and perhaps even more so throughout this pandemic. Thank you x
