Have been struggling for years with my mental health, experienced trauma at a very early age.
Have also experienced several traumas since as an adult.
Was put on anti depressants in my mid 20s been on them for 20 plus years.
Asked for a referral to my local mental health unit a few years back waited a few months and then seen a psychiatrist who I felt couldn't have been less interested if they tried. Diagnosed me with ptsd after 20 minutes told them I already had been given this diagnosis in my 30s, they changed my anti depressant and sent me on my way.
Now ssri's alone have little affect on me, I told them I thought I had bi polar or bpd, and told them this a few times at different appointments but they didn't listen. I'm still on the same ssri and just been diagnosed with bpd, only got this diagnosis at my insistence that I be given a proper mental health evaluation. So now I'm told my medication isn't changing, which is nonsense as it's not working and ssri alone is not treating my symptoms.
Really had enough of being fobbed off and ignored when u try to stick up for yourself u get made to feel like a difficult patient.
It's 2021 and mental health care should be way better than this surely.
