"Thank-you from the bottom of my repaired heart"

About: Royal Cornwall Hospital (Treliske) / Cardiology

(as the patient),

We travelled down from Surrey  to Goonhaven for a long overdue break. Unfortunately I began feeling unwell shortly after arriving, shoulder pain and chest pain.

I was taken and admitted to the accident and emergency department at the Royal Cornwall. Once admitted I was seen by the on duty staff who were caring and efficient. Sadly due to my condition the names escape me. There was a young gent from the St Johns Ambulance who was so attentive deserves individual recognition.

Later i was transferred to the Acute medical ward  where i spent the next several days. There were many staff who attended to me but two stand out. I believe Georgia and Louise they were so sympathetic to my predicament and nothing was too much trouble.

I told them my one regret was I didn't even get a Cornish Pasty and without hesitation they offered to get me one and bring it in on their next shift  (excellent).

As soon as a bed became available in the Cardiac ward i was transferred. Once again the staff could not be more attentive  and caring. I had to undergo an Angioplasty with stents being applied. The whole team were so professional and understanding.

I am not sure where to start thanking all these people but no one should ever criticise the NHS or anyone who works on the wards or in support. Thank-you from the bottom of my repaired heart.

Dear Pasty expert

My name is Jane and I am the Clinical Matron for the Emergency Department.

Thank you for posting your kind comments on the website.

I was sorry to hear you were unwell on arriving in Cornwall, but I am pleased that your experience throughout your hospital stay appeared to be a very positive one.

My staff in the Emergency Department work very hard to uphold the Trust values and to treat patients with care and compassion despite working under immense pressure at times. The St John's ambulance staff are a recent addition to the department and they volunteer to work with us on Friday, Saturday and Sunday evenings. It is great to see and hear how well they have fitted into the department and what a difference they make to the patient experience. I will make sure this is fed back to them.

I am pleased that your angioplasty was a success and I hope you are making a good recovery. Hopefully you did manage to sample a Cornish pasty before your return!

Kind Regards

Jane
