"Dermatology"

About: Leicester Royal Infirmary / Dermatology

(as the patient),

I was referred back to Dermatology LRI at the end of February with a suspect mole, having had a long history of skin cancer including a melanoma.

I have previously had some excellent care and some very poor with mistakes with biopsy results. Naturally I was very nervous about the suspect mole.

The main difficulty experienced was with communication resulting in inefficiency and delay causing problems and stress for both patients and staff. Staff said they had reported the problems to management many times.

I was given letter/ leaflet with an incorrect telephone number which turned out to be a misprint so likely to have been given to many patients, another number provided was with a full answerphone and the number given for biopsy results had an answerphone were messages were not answered.

I eventually found out my biopsy results yesterday after a call to my GP surgery who had been sent a letter over a month ago. No communication to me what so ever .

Naturally very upset and frustrated about this and I phoned Dermatology to be told the reason was to do with the Covid situation in India. I was astounded to hear that in some way this was to do with the delay.

Speechless!

Any explanation?
