I was admitted to Neely ward to have emergency surgery for an ectopic pregnancy after being in the ward the weekend before for expectant management. I was very frightened and nervous about going for surgery and afterwards trying to recover and mobilise again. The domestics, healthcare assistants, nursing students, nurses and deputy sisters were absolutely amazing. They took time with me and helped reassure me that I was progressing each day and gave me the confidence to do things I was frightened to do. They assured me that these feelings were normal. They were so friendly and genuinely cared so much about the patients, coming from other areas of the ward to see how I was doing if they weren’t looking after me. They went above and beyond to ensure my stay was as comfortable as possible. The standard of care was excellent and I feel very grateful to have been looked after by such a great team.
