About: Coatbridge Locality Support Service (Disability) / Social work services (16-64)

(as a carer),

My 23 year old son was referred to social work in January 2021. He has an ongoing progressive condition and is deteriorating by the day. It is now July and there is no concrete support in place. I have had to complain to NLC who agree that a full and comprehensive assessment has yet to be carried out. Still waiting……..

Dear Steph73

It's so disappointing to hear of your seemingly really negative experience of the social work service in Coatbridge. The relevant members of the management team have been informed of the difficulties that you're experienced and will respond to your comments at the start of next week. Annual leave prevents a response before then.

In the meantime, if I can help out with anything, please contact me at kearnsp@northlan.gov.uk.

Kind regards

Patricia Kearns

Hi Steph73

Just to let you know, I've passed your comments onto the appropriate members of the management team in Cumbernauld locality for attention.

Again, I'm really sorry that you've been struggling to get your son the support that he needs, and I hope that your caring role has been better supported in recent times. Hoping that today is a good day for you and your son, and if you need any further support or information, please e mail me at kearnsp@northlan.gov.uk.

Best regards Steph

Patricia

Dear Steph73

I am sorry to hear that you don’t feel there’s enough support available to your son, and I hope that the support that he does have at present is helping. The assessment process can take some time, and the covid pandemic hasn’t helped. Once we complete the assessment, we’ll have a clearer picture of the support your son needs, and will work together to formulate a support plan for him.

Best regards

Karen Workman

Update posted by Steph73 (a carer)

Thanks Karen, however, I definitely hoped to be in a better place in July when our initial contact was January. I absolutely appreciate there is a pandemic, however, PPE is used in most settings and unfortunately my son’s health is deteriorating continuously regardless of Covid.

I look forward to an assessment being carried out soon.
