Firstly I went to accident and emergency which was really good. As I am pregnant I was taken straight to minor injuries where they went out of their way for me to be seen quickly so I felt really safe regarding the Covid situation. The only thing was that it took a while for someone from maternity to come round and check if the baby was okay.
I then went for surgery as I had broken my ankle. My anaesthetist Paul was the loveliest man, he talked me through everything and kept me calm and reassured. He even called round before finishing his shift to check in on me. He really went above and beyond
Staying in the Trauma unit has been really positive. The staff are great, they cant do enough for you, every person who comes round to you seems to get nicer and nicer. The ward feels really airy and staff are always keeping it clean. The infection control has been really good as well. There is always enough water and food, if you aren’t eating they always ask if you want something else instead.
The X-ray department was also really good, the staff were really thoughtful about my pregnancy and ensuring they stuck to protocols.
All these things matter now as we aren’t allowed visitors so it is great to see some kind faces.
