Shocking experience from start to finish.
Was sent by my GP last week to CAU at Ayr. On arriving I booked in quickly & moved through to a seat in the corridor where my bloods & blood pressure was taken. So much for respecting patients dignity. This is obviously a common occurrence as another patient was also brought through & treated in the same way.
I was then moved through to a waiting area to be seen by the consultant. The waiting wasn't an issue but being taken into what appeared to be a store room where a bed had been squeezed into is surely not acceptable. The consultant couldn't get round the side of the bed to examine me so I had to turn & lie upside down in the bed. The store room had 3 large bins in it along with lots of boxes & clear bags with syringes etc that couldn't be used.
I appreciate that times have been trying & it is a busy department but what I don't appreciate is being seen in a store room/make shift area. This should not be happening & I was utterly shocked in the running of the department & how medical professionals think that this is acceptable.
