"Fantastic Treatment at FVRH"

About: Forth Valley Royal Hospital / Ambulatory Care

(as a relative),

My elderly father attended for a biopsy which he was quite anxious and stressed about.  He was taken very soon after his appointment time (important as he gets more anxious if he has to wait) and shown through to the treatment room.  Given his anxiety I was allowed to accompany him.

The staff were fantastic with him, David, Gillian and Aileen.  All very chatty and upbeat whilst still asking the relevant questions and ensuring he knew what was going on at all times.

Aileen made sure my dad was comfortable and had someone right beside him throughout the procedure.  David explained thoroughly what was happening, step by step always making sure my dad was comfortable and happy to continue with the procedure.  They even let him see the sample they had taken which he was most impressed with!

Gillian explained the after care process to me and made sure I knew when stitches etc were to be removed and what to do if my dad had any issues with the wound.

Overall they made quite a worrying experience much more relaxed whilst remaining professional at all times.  They are a credit to the department and to the Hospital.

Thank you very much for your wonderful, detailed feedback.

It seems we were able to get things right on the day for you and your Father.

We try to keep an air of informality in the room, if the patient is relaxed it makes everything else easier, and it is great that the team managed to do this while maintaining a veneer of professionalism:)

I shall ensure everyone knows your feelings.

Hopefully your Dad didn't find it too uncomfortable after the anaesthetic wore off.

Thanks again

David
