"Unexpected trip to ED"

About: The Ulster Hospital / Emergency Department

(as a service user),

My husband had an accident yesterday and cut his finger off! Obviously quite a shock for him and a frightening experience. I took him directly to ED at The Ulster Hospital. Everyone we met on our journey from the receptionist, to the nurses, doctors and Consultant, were professional, calm and reassuring. My husband had cut through a small artery, and though this looked terrifying to him, he was treated promptly, appropriately, calmly and with care. He was given emergency treatment, given a tetanus injection, some antibiotics and his hand was dressed. We attended Plastics the next day for terminalisation of his finger. What an amazing service! Free at point of delivery by professional kind people. If anyone truly has an emergency and needs urgent treatment, the Ulster Hospital ED department is the place to go.

Thank you everyone. Your care and genuine desire to help us was so appreciated. Thank you.

Hi Kitty54

Thank you for the feedback and very positive comments following your husbands attendance to the Ulster Hospital ED. Although sorry to hear about his accident and the resulting injury it is good to hear the care and service he received was of a high standard.

I will share your comments with the staff who will appreciate the thanks and review of the service.

Best Wishes

Jenny

Interim Lead Nurse ED
