"Virtual visiting has been joyful"

About: Southern Health & Social Care Trust / Virtual Visiting Service

(as a relative),

My dad is an 86 yr old who requires frequent Hospital admissions. From the pandemic we have found comfort as a result of virtual visiting provided within CAH.

We have used these visits to not only reassure our father and ourselves, but have found the interaction to be joyful. By looking at the garden, seeing his pets, Interacting with his grand children, has all contributed to my father's recovery.

I also have benefitted personally, as a lupus sufferer, I am shielding as much as humanly possible. Visits to the hospital could result in my own health deteriorating. So I thank you again as this risk factor has been eliminated, while maintaining the relationship with my father.

We have been so impressed with the service that we purchased a communal tablet, for my dads unit, in his care home so that other families could chat.

Also a huge thank you for the ease of service, booking is a pleasure. A quality holistic care tool delivered by a warm and understanding team of staff, who genuinely go out of their way to ensure the best quality from the experience. Truly a real credit to the Trust.

Thank you so much and I hope this service continues in the future.

Good morning

Thank you so much for taking the time to share your experience of the Virtual Visiting Service in Southern Health and Social Services Trust. We recognise how difficult it is for families at the minute due to Covid 19.

This new service has been established to try to support families/friends and patients during this time and your story just lets us see how the important the service is to you, your family and your father.

It is wonderful to read the added benefits that you have found that the virtual visit offered your father, looking at the garden, seeing his pets, interacting with his grand children and it is wonderful to read that you feel that this has all contributed to your father's recovery.

It is also amazing to read that you have purchased a communal tablet for your dads unit in his care home so that other families could chat - this is definitely a wonderful legacy from our service.

I have personally shared this story with all the members of the Virtual Visiting Team. They are just delighted with this feedback.

Kind regards

Mairead Casey
