"Phone First & ED"

I rang the phone First service at 7.30am this morning to get advice as to where to bring my two teenagers - one who I suspected had a concussion from after school football the previous evening, and one with a 5 day history of increasing pain and swelling in his foot to the point he was now struggling to bear weight in it. The receptionist was very nice and took all the details. We then had a call back from a nurse within the hour, and were directed to go to AAH minor injuries at 9.30am with one child and to attend ED between 9-10am with the other. We arrived at 9.30am and split up with each child through the service. We were seen, assessed and back in the car by 10.30am. One with a diagnosis of concussion and one with a Pre stress fracture of a metatarsal. The staff were all very kind, friendly and professional and also all ignored my guide dog (as they should) which was great. 

The only negative feedback I have is that the way the reception desk in ED is situated, and with the receptionists voices being on speakers, patient confidentiality is absolutely compromised. Everyone in the waiting room can hear patients names, DOB, NOK, addresses, phone numbers and details about their presenting complaints.

thank you for taking the time to provide feedback for our ENP service its really appreciated at this busy time for us as a service. I pass on your thanks.

We are aware of the issues of confidentiality at the front reception. We have had our estates up a number of times to try and reduce the back round noise within the reception area but this is proving challenging but we will continue to try to resolve this issue.
