"Ophthalmology appointment experience"

About: University Hospital Ayr / Ophthalmology

(as a service user),

Seen lovely nurse but then seen the doctor. I felt they treated me with disrespect,  fired questions at me, didn't ask permission for anything, and that they treated me like mental health patient which was not  the reason I was there.  I don't wan to see this doctor again. I felt that they talked over me, seemed to think I was a liar and then didn't care about my feelings or the fact I have mental disabilities, although  they treated me as if I was a silly little girl,  never again .

Nurse lovely treated me respect explained all, in my opinion it is just a pity the doctor doesn't have that manner.

I was really sorry to hear of your poor experience within the eye clinic. I do appreciate your kind words about the nursing support you received. We would like to look into this further for you as our aim at all times is to treat patients in a caring, safe and respectful manner. If you were able to get in touch with me direct, that would let me determine which doctor you saw in the clinic and we can ensure they are aware of your experience. I can be contacted by email on karen.andrews@aapct.scot.nhs.uk or by telephone on 01292 617123. I am sorry once again that your experience was less than you would have expected from us.

kind regards

Karen Andrews, General Manager
