"Ward 37 used to be ward 2 - Respiratory medicine"

About: Royal Lancaster Infirmary

Anything else?

Ward 37 is a medical ward at LRI with a specialist interest in respiratory medicine. It is staffed by the most dedicated bunch of nurses, healthcare workers, admin support staff & doctors. Due to the nature of this ward, it has a large amount of very poorly patients. Clinically, the staff are of the highest calibre you will find anywhere. As well as their clinical excellence, they are totally focussed upon the need of the patients under their care. Within the patient care the staff are always very considerate to relatives and social circumstances relating to their patients. They communicate effectively with patients and with the other members of staff. They are friendly and approachable. I can't praise them all enough.

In relation to my (and my families) care, we couldn't ask for more. They all genuinely care and are themselves affected by emotional aspects of care. They are such hard workers (long hours, many miles covered and heavy work) yet they always have smiles and pleasant attitudes even when under considerable pressures. They are the most effective team I have ever had looking after me.

On behalf of myself and my family, I would like to thank them for all of there care and attention no matter what the circumstances. How they manage to remain composed despite the patient being less than cooperative (yes I'm referring to myself!) is impressive to say the least.
