"Fantastic care throughout"

About: University Hospital Wishaw / Emergency Department

(as the patient),

I had attended accident and emergency department in Wishaw with gallbladder attack in the early hours. I was seen promptly as I was in severe pain and was met by two lovely nurses called Natalie and Michelle who triaged me and offered swift and appropriate pain relief. I was then seen by doctor called Alan and was cared for by nurses called Ashley and Nicky who were all excellent and did their utmost to ease my pain with appropriate pain relief and referral to surgical team . I was then admitted to surgical receiving ward where I remained and received my surgery to remove my gallbladder.  I would like to thank each and every one of them. Being in a vulnerable state with pain and feeling embarrassed about it they put me at ease treated me with utmost respect . Being a health professional myself I understand the pressure the nhs is under but not once did this show in their work and worked fantastically as a team. I feel very strongly to highlight this excellent care and wish to say they are a credit to the nhs and the department should feel proud of the work they do.

Dear Bindy

Many thanks for taking the time to share your experience following your recent admission to University Hospital Wishaw. It is lovely to hear that you thought the care you received from the staff in the Emergency Department, from start to finish, was fantastic. The care and treatment you mentioned is what we strive to deliver to every patient, every day and it is great to hear that we are getting it right!

I'm pleased to note that you have now undergone surgery to remove your gallbladder and I hope you are now feeling much better and recovering well at home.

I will share this post directly with the team and I am sure they will be delighted to read the lovely comments you have shared. Thanks again for sharing your story.

Lesley
