I had been transferred to ward 18 via accident and emergency last week following gallbladder attack pain. I was then taken to theatre on Saturday for gallbladder removal. Would like to thank everyone from admission to discharge my care was excellent .
As a health care professional myself, I understand the pressure the nhs is under, but not once did one of the staff show this in their work. They were professional and caring in all aspects in their work. As it is a surgical receiving ward, it’s extremely busy and therefore there are 24 hr transfers from department and moving of beds, which can be quite disruptive throughout the night, but the staff did this with as minimal disruptions as they could possibly do.
Each and every member of staff showed respect and empathy to each patient particularly with the elderly patients where they may be confused and afraid they did as much as they could do by talking to them making them as comfortable and as relaxed as possible which to me shows they care. While I may forget some of their names sorry I would like to thank Leah ( staff nurse was working a bank shift in the ward) Robert (staff nurse )hazel (staff nurse) liz (csw) and particularly a big thank you to Arlene (csw) her empathy towards the patients was outstanding . My care from theatre staff and surgeons was also excellent. The nurse who transferred me to theatre I think was called Megan and she put me at ease in theatre whilst preparing me for anaesthesia. My anaesthetist Lynsey did everything to put me at ease and although being a health professional myself it’s different being in the other side so I thank them for their excellent care . Anyone who I have not remembered their names I apologise. The whole team are a Credit to the nhs and I would be grateful if you could pass my comments on to them.
