My Father who is in his 90's was kept waiting in the ward sitting in a wheelchair after his dialysis at GRI finished at 5pm and by 6.45 there was still no sign of patient transport to take him home, and this is not a first time. My previous complaints to the Scottish Ambulance Service have ended with me receiving a letter saying they have investigated and it was a one-off.
Yesterday my mother was up the wall waiting for him to come home. Firstly I want to thank the two nurses who waited with him till I arrived. Secondly I want to complain about the transport service. The nurses informed me they had been trying to contact the service but no one was picking up the phone. This is what I am complaining mainly about the lack of communication. Knowing why things are not working is half the battle, I know they are only taking one at time due to covid in the ambulance transport and I know COP was on in Glasgow so there have been traffic problems but for the love of god a bit of communication would go a long way. By the way I put no fault at the ambulance transport staff, as far as I can see they just do what they are told but who is running things at the control centre?
