I received a letter, along with the info and bowel procedures preparation on in Oct for an appointment to attend Wishaw Gen Hospital for a Colonoscopy procedure this week at 2.30pm.
As, due to the timescale involved ( referred by Doc in March 21), I had the procedure done privately.
At 12.05 the same day, I called the number on the letter to cancel the appointment only to receive a recorded message telling me the times available to deal with the calls, those being, Mon-Fri, 10-12pm ( my letter did not, but should have, shown these time limits).
Mon, I attended a funeral at 9.30, show was unable to let the hospital know then.
Tues, called at 10.12 to be told 5th in the queue. After 15mins waiting, I accepted the choice to leave contact details and the reason for the call, which I did.
Sat, as I have not received any acknowledgement of my cancellation, I have sent a message via the phone number but doubt if it will appear anywhere as its not a mobile number.
I know the importance and cost to the NHS of missed appointments, hence me telling this story.
