"Words can never convey our gratitude"

About: Royal Belfast Hospital for Sick children / The Northern Ireland Children's Heart Centre

(as a service user),

My son was diagnosed with leukaemia at Children ED at RVH site. Then the staff at the children’s Oncology ward saved his life. When his appendix burst a few years later when he was 8, the theatre staff and staff on Belvoir ward saved his life again.

Now he has heart failure caused by all the chemotherapy he had, the doctors and nurses in the Children’s Heart Centre at the Children’s hospital are again saving his life by constantly monitoring his heart and providing his life saving medication and treatment.

We owe the Royal  Belfast Hospital for Sick Children more than our lives, we owe them our son’s life.

Words can never convey our gratitude.

Thank you for your kind words. We have shared your message of thanks with the teams you mentioned.

We really do appreciate you taking the time to convey your experiences with us, coming as it does when you obviously have gone through so much, and still look to be on a journey with us.

We cannot put ourselves in your shoes but everyone who comes through our doors means a lot to us. We build relationships with children and their families. Some are lucky not to require on going treatment, but many like yourselves may need to continue with us for longer. Either way it is always good to hear how we have done and if we need to, where we can improve or help.
