Well I made an eight page official complaint to the Lister Hospital and waited six weeks for a reply and most of the concerns I raised were ignored and what I received back from the hospital was a letter that seemed to have been written by a public relations consultant with reference made to a doctor who is paid for by the hospital. It almost seems that he/she would give a clear bill of health to anyone.
The reply also contained a 44 page document (NICE cf108. pdf) that states
"Heart failure has a poor prognosis: 30–40% of patients diagnosed with heart failure die within a year" and "Heart failure: 5% of all emergency medical admissions to hospital." The doctor then goes on to say the A&E department at Lister's hospital in Stevenage finds that taking BNP readings is a specialist area.
As you can guess the hospital has lost some of the case notes in my case plus they also seem to have lost a doctor working in the A&E department. Something you won't know is that the hospital admits to having doctors "robo-signing" discharge papers and then conveniently informs me that the "robo-doctor" has left the hospital.
If you make a complaint, then expect the reply to contain twisted facts, spin and lame excuses and then go blow for blow with the reply because you don't need to be a medical expert to debunk a document that is full of PR and devoid of facts.
Please note that I have no concerns about other areas outside of the Accident and Emergency department at Lister hospital
I have just had a pacemaker fitted so hopefully I will find the energy to see that my complaint does not fall on death ears and blind eyes because I like you will not accept being treated as a piece of meat and a fool for daring to complain.
