"Went in to A&E for a finger ..."

About: Royal Devon & Exeter Hospital (Wonford)

(as the patient),

What I liked

Went in to A&E for a finger injury, quite minor but the staff were very efficient, caring, was only in for less than an hour, the consulting doctor was extremly friendly & helpful, put me at ease & explained my injury well & gave good advice.

I have been to Wonford twice before, once to the eye dept, & once to the orthapedic centre, I could not fault the level of care & efficiency.

What could be improved

On arrival at A&E I was barked at by the receptionist "we're very busy you'll have to wait!" although I was the only one there I appreciate they are probably understaffed, but she was downright rude, after 10 mins of being ignored a different receptionist called me over & was wonderful, the receptionist at radiology was blunt to the point of being rude, the radiologist was unsympathetic to the amount of pain I was in with a kind of "don't be a baby" attitude forcing my hand & causing considerable pain, the staff on the radiology "ward" were very good though, full of fun.

The overall cleanliness of even the radiology dept didn't seem that great, there also seemed to be a lot of patients waiting on gurneys un attended in the corridoors in obvious distress, made me feel quite uncomfortable.
