I have documented the horrific ordeal of my hysteroscopy in detail, but did not have space to mention one other aspect that had a profound effect on me.
Not long after I had been positioned and lowered in the chair (which is uncomfortable anyway), the consultant told me to clench my fists and sit on them. This felt so unnatural and painful putting my weight on to them. I was also literally trapped, pinned down. I was petrified to move in case changing positions with the rod inside me ruptured something. I ended up with a sprained right wrist/thumb, which lasted a week (couldn't hold or turn anything as it was too painful).
The more I think about it this was so wrong. If the position I was in wasn't right I think they should have moved me or the chair or got a cushion to raise me up. I don't want any woman to go through that.
