I recently gave birth to my 3rd child in the CLU in Victoria Hospital.
I was cared for by Mary Ann (Community Midwife) during my pregnancy and she was amazing. She has looked after me during all 3 of my pregnancies spanning the last 10 years.
During the labour when I arrived at the maternity unit I was greeted by a lovely HCA (didn't find out her name) who kindly took my arm and helped me walk up to the delivery unit whilst I was in full blown active labour.
In the CLU I was cared for by Midwife Laura and return to practice student Sam. Both these women were professionally, caring and most importantly advocates for me and ensured person centred care. I had a very enjoyable birth and it wouldn't have been possibility without the excellent care and one to one attention from the two midwifes. I myself work for the NHS and it made me proud of our amazing workforce to see such top class care.
My partner was very well looked after during the labour and postnatal period too. We had a beautiful quiet well equipped room to spend the first night in with our baby son and we were giving excellent support to establish breastfeeding by all staff during our stay. I can't thank them all enough for their kind and supportive manner. The community Midwifes who visited us at home after the birth were also amazing and nothing was too much hassle.
A massive shout out to the breastfeeding support team mainly Kelly for her intense support at the beginning and her ongoing breastfeeding support now. Without her our breastfeeding journey wouldn't be going as well as it is.
Our son is thriving and we are so grateful for the amazing care given to us we feel very lucky.
"Amazing birth of 3rd baby"
