I attended ED with my 1 year old due to a suspected fracture and would like to commend all staff involved in his care. The triage nurse was so kind and compassionate and assessed him in such a kind manner despite him being distressed she made him smile. We had quite a long wait and could see the pressures the nursing and medical staff were under. In particular the triage nurse Emma was very caring and compassionate, keeping us informed and apologising for our long wait. She gave us some biscuits and bubbles and realising how tough it was when only one parent is allowed in, came in and held my son while he was distressed just to give me a break. I’m so thankful to the team who looked after us. Thankfully it was nothing major but the reassurance provided was excellent. We were fortunate enough that it wasn’t an emergency and understand we were safe to wait for long time while more urgent cases were dealt with. The doctor Helen was excellent and very efficient realising our long wait time and getting us seen, X-rays and discharged as soon as possible. In such a challenging department and under the current circumstances it was reassuring to be treated and assessed by such kind, caring and skilled staff. Thank you all very much for all that you do.
