About: General practices in Fife Victoria Hospital / Gastroenterology

(as the patient),

Hi

I have been seeing my GP since Dec 20 with digestive issues. 15 months later I am no further forward just tests after tests. Symptoms are now affecting my life. I had an appointment to see a general surgeon last week and now waiting on an endoscopy. Although I am extremely anxious about this I know it is necessary.

No one can tell me how long the waiting list is for this procedure. I have numerous underlying health issues but there are no links being explored. Recently I was told I am too old for a diagnosis by a GP. I am 56. My current symptoms seem to be intensifying. I just don’t seem to be getting any respite. My appetite is becoming affected and I feel nauseous most of the time. Due to anxiety the worry is overwhelming and I’m thinking the worst. I just don’t feel as though I am being listened to.

Various bowel tests are negative as are blood tests and a scan. I recently paid to get a food intolerance test and found I am intolerant to yeast, eggs and dairy. I am following a vegan diet for now but doing this with no support. I am worrying in case something has been overlooked or as my symptoms are intensifying it may become more serious and difficult to treat. When results come back I get no follow up and there are never any discussions around next steps unless I pursue it.

I don’t know where to turn
