A bit of background - I'm currently seeing a community mental health nurse, dealing with depression & anxiety brought on because of my pain levels.
In February I had a phone appointment with a pain doctor. I felt patronised, pathetic, worthless to be honest.
To be told there is no more treatment medication or otherwise - and it should be dealt with through self-management like mindfulness, pacing etc. - because they don't have a magic wand. I do mindfulness every day, understand and practice pacing.
However, because I'm seeing a CPN the pain doctor says I don't have the capacity to do this. I got very upset, to the point I couldn't speak. I said goodbye and ended the call.
30 minutes later my CPN called to check in, apparently the doctor had emailed to say I'd gotten upset. Well what did they expect?
To add, before I was ill I worked in the health service. There was another health professional on the line who I wasn’t introduced to - I feel this could be a breach of data protection”
