"3 yearly cervical smear"

I received a letter inviting me for my cervical smear test at my local GP surgery, and was able to book the service within 7 days. There was no issue agreeing a date and time outside of my working hours, and the process was not embarrassing or intrusive.

On the day of the procedure, the female clinician who performed the test was punctual and friendly. She explained what the test was looking for, what the possible results meant and how I would be contacted. She was incredibly communicative and went out of her way to make sure I understood and felt able to ask questions. The actual test itself was over very quickly, and my privacy and dignity were upheld without fuss. As a patient who has had multiple intimate examinations, this was exactly how I would want an appointment of this nature to proceed.
