About: Crisis Mental Health / Single point of access team (SPA) & Emotional Wellbeing Service (EWS)

(as the patient),

I've been trying to access mental health for eight months now. I was living on the streets homeless before that for years. I've been physically and racially abused during my life, as well since I was a child. I am now adult age. I'm struggling to cope. I have no family and no friends. I've worked here and there and I've been a full-time carer. I can't seem to  receive support. I was bullied at school, bullied at work  and experienced bullying on the streets as well.

I am sorry to hear about the struggles you have faced and, continue to face. In order to access mental health support we would first advocate that someone makes contact with their GP surgery. There are interventions and support of a wide variety offered within Primary Care setting (GP, voluntary sector services etc). The GP would normally offer a consultation and if they felt that your mental health needs can't be met through Primary care, or need advice around how best to support you, they would make a referral to our service. I hope that this helps.
