"Maternity MOT Clinic"

About: University Hospital Wishaw / Maternity Care (Wards 21-24)

(as a service user),

I was referred to the MOT clinic at Wishaw hospital by my community midwife following some complications in early pregnancy.

I attended my appointment last week and waited over an hour after my appointment time to be seen. I had a second appointment with psychiatry that I had waited over eight weeks for and when I explained this to reception and the person in charge of the MOT clinic I was told there was nothing they could do - forcing me to cancel my appointment and rearrange for the following week.

The following week arrived and once again I have been forced to wait well beyond my appointment time despite having work to attend. I spoke to reception about how poor the clinic management is and I was told that this happens every week and it is not uncommon for patients to wait over an hour beyond their scheduled appointment time.

If the clinic has such a large number of patients and is consistently so behind it is obviously necessary to run the clinic more frequently during the week.

Dear mineralxd53

Thank you for taking the time to post your comments on Care Opinion. I am so sorry that you have experienced long waiting times at the MOT clinic which has impacted on other appointments and work commitments. As a service we are aware of the challenges within the department. At present we are working through plans to improve the time management and organisation of clinics within our Day Assessment Unit.

Apologies again for the inconvenience this has caused you.

If you would like to discuss this further or if there is anything I am able to assist with then please don’t hesitate to contact me.

Kind Regards

Heather Weir
