Had very bad experience with stressed out 1 year girl, not enough attention from nurses and not even seen by a doctor after waiting for 8 hours.
My daughter had very high fever for more than 48 hours. In next day morning called the GP for emergency appointment and explained her symptoms, got appointment to see a doctor in on hour. We arrived to and GP went thru check up, little girl had 39.5°. So he called to Aberdeen Child hospital been sent straight away to Aberdeen Child hospital for emergency check up and see Pediatrics for further check up.
When we arrived we were checked by nurses for blood pressure, temperature. After another 20min been check for ear infection and took samples from oral, been told that doctor will come and see her.Next time she was checked after an hour for temperature and blood pressure. Then 4 hours passed and nobody checked temperature, been told doctor is coming to see her. So we were waiting little girl stressed and no doctor been seen. After 4 hours, I asked nurses how often temperature should be checked, been told 2 hours but nobody came to check for 4 hours, they knew we came with high fever. After me asking to check Nurse didn't seem happy but came to check it. Again been told doctor is coming to see.
Nurse tried to get sample of urine by putting plastic bag, which was not properly on and fell of. I went to tell that bag is not attached, so given bowl. Tried to catch with bowl, not worked, again went on bag, but still not managed to put properly and urine went everywhere but not in bag.
Kept being told that doctor on the way, will be in hour. One of nurses managed to get few drops from bag, but said its not enough to send for further check, told that she sees some infection and gave us antibiotics. Told if anything gets worse call again for checks.
So still not checked by Pediatric doctor after spending more than 8 hours in emergency ward.
Left Hospital frustrated without proper attention.
