"A terrible GP practice"

About: Iver Medical Centre

Following recovery from COVID my asthma deteriorated to the point where I was struggling to breathe without constantly resorting to a reliever. Not one to bother the doctor it eventually got to the point where I had no choice. Getting an appointment with the Iver Medical Center proved quite difficult.

I'm no expert but the words COVID, Asthma and struggling to breathe would set alarm bells ringing when coming from a patient who wasn't a regular so I would want to get them booked in for an appointment to see what was wrong.

Having been told there were no appointments I persevered and eventually one was found for later on that afternoon but it was a case of begging.

Fast forward a few weeks and the effects of the medication provided have sadly faded leaving me struggling for breath again. Once again there are no appointments available to see a doctor. The only thing they can suggest is calling tomorrow at 8.30am to see if there are any appointments available then but it all seems a bit random and left to chance. Were I a doctor and someone called me in distress I would book them in there and then.

I've finally given up and handed in an application to register with the Denham & Aysgarth Medical Center in Iver Heath after 20 years with the Iver Medical Center. Friends seem to have no problem getting an appointment at Aysgarth. My wife will be doing the same.

Being ill can be quite worrying and disconcerting particularly when you are ordinarily healthy. Not being able to see a GP makes you feel extremely vulnerable especially when we are told not to use A&E but seek help via our GP. There seems little point in being registered to a practice which doesn't have doctors appointments available.
