"I cannot thank the staff on maternity ward enough"

About: South West Acute Hospital / Maternity care

(as a service user),

In late May I gave birth to my daughter via emergency c-section. It was a very stressful situation for myself and my husband - I was terrified, and everything was happening so fast!

I cannot thank the staff on maternity ward enough, my midwife Loretta was nothing short of excellent. Dr. Kayla who was the doctor on call and performed the c-section, was there the next day and a second time prior to discharge to debrief about what has happened and offer support and to answer any questions I had.

A special thanks to my theatre nurse Anneka who was there with me when I woke up and first handed me my daughter. A moment I’ll never forget.

A special thanks to student midwife Chloe who went through my discharge information with me in great detail.

A massive thank you to the auxiliaries who came in during the night after my section to help me with the most basic tasks.

I am forever grateful to this wonderful team of midwives, auxiliaries, doctors and theatre staff for bringing my daughter safely into the world under such a high pressure situation. You all hold a very special place in my heart.

Congratulations on the birth of your daughter, I will inform the staff of your feedback of their care. I am delighted to hear that you felt supported and informed during the stressful times of your delivery, and debriefed well and given the help and parentcraft you needed afterwards. I will ensure the staff you named have a copy of your story.

Thank you again for taking the time to post.
