Dad has dementia and was ill with a bleed in the brain, 2 broken ribs, broken collar bone, covid, pneumonia, c-diff.
Staff from ICU said to tell staff he was in danger and needed special 1 to 1 care. On arriving at 7C ward staff didn’t seem to be expecting him, knew nothing about him, were pulling him up by arm on side with broken collar bone.
One nurse left him alone in the bathroom when he shouldn’t have been alone. This particular member of staff insulted agency staff and really didn’t make me feel happy with my dad alone with them.
My sister and I got permission to sit with him and my sister contacted senior staff and we then got a "special" for evenings which was fantastic and reassuring.
I think once my dad's condition was understood the staff were great, especially two young nurses on placement. Staff were helpful and kind.
