Dear Disappointted Ayrshire

Thank you for taking the time to share your recent experience via Care Opinion.

I am sorry to hear that the food was unsuitable for your wife during her stay. Normally staff are able to obtain an alternative choice. Generally we discourage food being brought to ward as we do not have facilities to reheat.

We do not allow hot drinks being brought in to ward for safety of all patients. If the hot drinks offered in the ward are unsuitable we are able to offer cold alternatives.

I am unable to comment on the two ladies visiting as I do not know the circumstances, however occasionally some visitors have an exemption from wearing masks. Previously visiting was by prior arrangement only but there may have been another reason the ladies were in the ward.

We hope to progress soon to less restrictive visiting.

Kind Regards

Mary

Update posted by Disappointted Ayrshire (a carer)

Can you explain why some off your staff encouraged me to bring in food? It was only a roll. The coffee was also encouraged by your staff, as it was the only nutrition she was getting. The food was never to be reheated. As I said, most of the staff were good. Also it was alright for your staff to bring in coffee from outside. I found the particular member of staff to be awful towards us.
