In August I was admitted to Hollybank Ward in Cannock Chase Hospital; this is a ward for patients having elective surgery.
My surgery was for a partial knee replacement. The appointment time given to all patients is 7:00 a.m.
I was greeted by a pleasant receptionist who gave me directions to the Ward where around 20 other patients were waiting to be called in. All the staff were well prepared and worked together to ensure everyone was shown to their room with minimum delay. I was directed to a single room which was spotlessly clean and well equipped.
I was seen by my Surgeon, his Registrar, an Anaesthetist and a junior Doctor. Each process was explained to me before, during and after every procedure.
Every member of staff on Hollybank Ward work together to provide patient centred care. At all times I felt safe, comfortable, well-informed and respected.
I was seen again by the surgical team after my surgery, told the outcome and given further information to support my recovery at home that evening.
Hollybank Ward serves five operating theatres between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. each day. This is a very busy ward but all the staff ensure that an environment of professional calm is maintained at all times and always with a smile.
Be assured that anyone being treated on Hollybank Ward will experience a level of care and compassion which exceeds all current NHS standards.
"An environment of professional calm"
