"Compassionate care for my eating disorder"

About: Northern General Hospital / Gastroenterology

(as a service user),

I was admitted to Vickers 3 at the Northern General Hospital due to a relapse of my eating disorder. This was a very difficult time, especially being admitted to a general hospital with a mental health problem.

However, the staff on Vickers 3 worked really hard to try and support me as much as they could in my stay. Working with me to create a meal plan, guidelines of how best to support me whilst eating and after, getting to know me and my mental health and triggers so these could be managed when they arose. I never once felt judged (common for mental health patients) and felt like I was treated as a human being, not an illness.

Staff were really keen to learn more about eating disorders, and how best to help people and I was pleased to see some changes being made already from my feedback. Keep up the good work!
