"Your dedication and professionalism is second to none"

About: Victoria Hospital / Day Intervention Unit

(as the patient),

In August 2022, I attended the Victoria Hospital Day intervention Unit in relation to my planned endoscopy appointment. Yet again, I entered the world of first class care and attention. So many dedicated staff dealt with me during my visit that I must apologise in advance for not being able to recall specific individuals. I can, however say that Dr Shams explained to me that he had identified certain procedures and it was his intention to "nip them in the bud" so to speak. Together with his brilliant lady assistants, these procedures were most ably dealt with. I was constantly advised during the procedure as to every aspect of what was being done, which was most reassuring.

Dr Shams and his fine team completed their procedure whereupon I was transported to the recovery ward and placed in the care of yet another team of dedicated ladies. Regular checks were then carried out to ensure that my recovery was on track. At the risk of ending up on the ' naughty chair' I made sure that I did exactly what I was told !

Had it been possible, I would have liked to have thanked each member of staff prior to my departure, however, with them running around like headless chickens, I would never have caught up with them.

Therefore, through the channels of Care Opinion, my most sincere thanks go to you all. Your dedication and professionalism is second to none.

Dear DIT DIT

Thank you for taking the time to post on Care Opinion, we welcome all feedback. My name is Siobhan McIlroy and I am the Head of Patient Experience. I am pleased to hear that you had a "first class" positive experience during your visit to the Day Intervention Unit. Having an endoscopy procedure can be worrying time for patients and communication is key and I glad you felt well informed through out the procedure and this made you feel reassured and at ease.

It would have been impossible to thank everyone before you left so I will ensure your comments are shared with Dr Shams and the team, they will be delighted with your feedback.

I am also pleased that you did not end up on the "naughty chair"! I hope your are recovering well, take care, Siobhan McIlroy.
