I’m shocked at what I have witnessed in one of the car parks at the QEUH. The parking attendant was acting in an intimidating and shocking manner towards motorists. Stalking them around the car park when they are trying to find a space and stopping them from parking. They were shouting at them and came across with such a horrible attitude. I know that these people might be staff trying to park where they shouldn’t, but to act in this manner towards anyone, nevermind NHS staff, is utterly disgusting and severely disappointing to see. This has caused me great anxiety about exiting my own car as I didn’t feel safe around the attendant. I have been visiting a relative every day in hospital for the past two weeks so what If the attendant mistakes me for a member of staff? Will I receive the same treatment? I realise parking is a major issue, and I have felt frustration myself of having to spend over an hour looking for a space, but surely these attendants would be better used by helping people find spaces on multi stories instead of blocking the car parks and causing unnecessary traffic to gather. By blocking up these car parks, you could be potentially be stopping an ambulance arriving on time to save someone’s life. I hate to think that there is so little care for the patients, that making sure it’s staff and visitors can’t get parked safely and quickly is what they seem to pay these attendants to do.
