My oncologist gave me a prescription which I took to the pharmacy in the Western, that uses a cheap intercom system for someone to come and collect the prescription.
Sometime later I was handed a third of my prescription, and told I could collect the rest at another time. When I asked when, they had no idea. Now given I live on the other side of Edinburgh, I needed something more definite so as not to waste my time.
I was given no contact number, nothing to bring to the pharmacy to prove that I was who I am and entitled to the prescription.
It was necessary to phone a specialist nurse who kindly got in touch with the Western General pharmacy, phoned me back, and I can collect next week.
What is it with NHS Lothian and patient communication?
I think it is shockingly poor.
"Poor communications in place again."
