"Water birth at BGH"

About: Borders General Hospital / Maternity care

(as a service user),

We have just had our second child at the BGH and the care from the midwifery team was just incredible. I was having a VBAC but luckily the birthing pool was available and I was supported by the midwives to deliver my baby in the water. The birth was everything I had hoped for and I can't thank the staff enough. It was so clear they had read through my preferences and knew what was important to me - I'm so grateful that I was truly listened to and that my decisions were respected.

A special mention and thanks to Helena who was the midwife looking after us during labour and delivery - she was wonderful (calm and full of encouragement but at the same time great at letting us just get on with it!) - we couldn't have asked for more. Thank you so much for making the birth such a positive experience and bringing our little girl safely into the world!

Dear Strawberry91

Congratulations on the birth of your daughter and thank you for taken the time to provide us with such lovely feedback.

I am delighted you felt supported and listened to and your birth plan was followed. We aim to provide person centred care and delighted you experienced a pool birth following a previous caesarean section.

I will ensure Helena is personally thanked on your behalf.

Thank you once again and enjoy the time with your new baby.

Kind Regards

Kirsteen Guthrie
