"shop made a Hugh profit"

About: Rampton Hospital / Personality Disorder Pathway

(as the patient),

Over a year and half ago it was proven that the patients shop made a Hugh profit out of us patients. They broke the rules as it is supposed to be a non-profit shop. We bring this up at different forums and get told time and time again that it is being investigated by senior managers and facilities. It as been going on for long enough. We patients are entitled to money back so why prolong it , let us have what is due to us please.

Hi there,

We have completed a review after several concerns raised and this was shared with patents.

We found the shop does not make a profit on the contents it offers to patient's, however does does some over heads. The reason the prices are sometimes higher in the shop than say the high-street, is due to the strict purchasing agreements we trust have to adhere to and NHS buying frameworks. Ensuring the products sold are of the correct standards and quality and are traceable.

We have also experienced significant inflationary pressures on our provisions costs, increasing by more than 10% and in extreme cases by as much as 35% but we have not increased our prices to reflect this, we are, in some cases, actually running at a loss.

we will keep reviewing this and keep communicating with patients. we understand this is difficult due it all price increases as this is affecting many people on low budgets
