I want to praise the nurses they are a fantastic bunch of girls and guys. A lot has been done for me.
Nursing staff are amazing when there is a full team and do what they need to do. My stay here has been eleven weeks and the staff have kept me going. When I have asked the staff they have been helpful and go up and beyond to help when they have staff. When not, things still get done but I need to wait. When they have the staff, they do extra things like hair, nails and showers, things like that, when they have full staff that is, and it makes a difference. Makes you feel good and nice.
Everyone from the nurses to the doctors and cleaners have been great and friendly. I love talking to them about their families and learning about them all.
The bedding isn't comfortable, it's rough and scratchy against you and is creased looking. Not nice to look at either with all the creases. I love a fresh cotton sheet and I got one whilst I was in theatre. I didn't want it to go away. I told the nurse in the ward (15) and someone managed to get me a cotton sheet a few times whilst I've been in. Which felt nice and good as I miss the feeling of a sheet like that on my bed.
I don't want to seem harsh but the food can be improved big time. Sometimes due to nurses not having time, it's cold when it comes out. Nurses can't dish it up until they have seen to other patients needs, which isn't their fault but could be improved. To me, there should be a team designated to carry this out as nurses time is too valuable.
I really don't like the five patients in a four bedroom. I was in the middle, then moved as an extra, which wasn't nice. Because I wasn't on oxygen I was stuck in the corner, no privacy at all. With no curtains to pull round , not good when I needed a bedpan. Now been moved to the other side but I don't agree with it, it's wrong. I get why, but it's still wrong. Not fair on those patients on that side. No space or privacy, no room for them or their visitors, it's just wrong.
